I will never get tired of playing Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs on the Oculus Rift. Actually, I have played this on the Go, Quest and even the PlayStation VR and it is just as much fun on every single device. This is the kind of game that anyone and I mean anyone can fire up and have a great time with. It is awesome to see that even after all these years, Angry Birds are still popular and fun.

The aim of the game is the same here as it was when you first were mind blown by Angry Birds back on your old iPhone. Those troublesome Pigs have taken the eggs and it is up to the Angry Birds (and you of course) to get them back. One thing that is cool about Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs is that they are always changing things up. Getting to a party is the basic goal, but they have done some great events that change things. For example, as I write this review there is a fun Halloween style event and story taking place.

It is cool that the game is so similar to the mobile classic. You have your Angry Birds such as the classics, Red, Chuck, Blues, and Bomb. Each of the Angry Bird has something that makes them unique, be it Chuck being able to go fast of Blues being able to transform into three Birds. Using the special abilities of each Bird is often key to not just beating a level, but getting the highest score possible so you can get those three stars! There are a ton of levels in the game and it is impossible for me to tell you how many as they are always adding more.

What really sets Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs apart from classic Angry Birds is, of course, the way that you actually play it. The Angry Birds are still flung via a slingshot. Only now, you use the controllers of the Oculus Rift instead of swiping your finger. This works incredibly well and feels great when you nail a shot. You have to actually pull the controllers back as if you were holding a slingshot which is a great deal of fun. You can also move around to get a better angle which helps make this different but also adds in some strategy. This along with new obstacles and boss battles really does make this familiar, but different at the same time.

I love the visuals of the game! I love the Angry Birds in general and I thought that the movie and its sequel were fantastic. This game is using the same kind of style as the two movies and it is awesome. I love how bright and well-designed everything is and there is a nice amount of variety to the levels. Just when you are getting tired of a particular kind of backdrop, you will move onto another one.

As you can tell, Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs is a game I have had a great deal of fun with. It works just as well on the Oculus Rift as it does all of the other VR platforms. It is fun to play and while some levels are very challenging. Just like the mobile game, it is the kind of game that literally anyone can try and have fun with.

Pros:

I love how much personality the game has

You actually feel like you are holding a slingshot

The Angry Birds look fantastic

New content is regularly added

Easy to learn, but hard to master

Cons:

More bosses would be awesome

Perhaps the early levels are a little too easy?

Oculus Go Game Reviews – Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs

To say that I love Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs on the Oculus Go is a massive understatement. I have always been a fan of the Angry Birds. It was one of the first games I got addicted to on my old iPhone and as I have a young son, we have had a lot of fun with the different toys, Monopoly and the two awesome movies! Angry Birds is a property that made the jump to the world of VR far better than most of us could have ever imagined.

The idea of the game is kind of the same that it has always been. Those darn pigs have taken the eggs and worst of all, you have a party you need to get to. I love the charm and style of Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs, but I must admit having a tie in with the most recent Angry Birds 2 movie would have been pretty awesome. Anyway, the premise is more than enough for me to sink my teeth into.

While the premise is the same the overall goal is too. You need to fire the various birds into the structures and pigs in order to save the eggs. However, it is how you do this that is changed. No longer do you need to just swipe your finger to fire. You now use the Oculus Go controllers in the same way you would a slingshot. It works very well and the way you can arc your shot does add in a real element of skill. I think it is a lot of fun and if you mess up, it is because you aimed wrong.

The different birds and their abilities are back and that is cool. What is new is that you now have larger structures to worry about, giant pigs and even these really cool boss pigs. I feel that they have added a ton of fun new content in Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs to make it stand out from the other Angry Birds games that have been released over the years. There are a ton of levels for you to do and I think the asking price is more than fair when you consider just how much content this game has.

As far as playing this on the Oculus Go goes, I have no complaints. This is not exactly what you would call a graphically taxing game so it manages to handle it all with a lot of style. There is no slowdown and in general it looks great, might not be quite as sharp as the version for Oculus Rift, but I would bet that most folks would not be able to tell the difference.

In all, I absolutely adore Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs for the Oculus Go and actually any other platform I play it on. It takes the fun of the original Angry Birds and brings it to the world of VR perfectly. It is a very fun game, but it also requires some major skill if you want to get the highest score possible. I highly recommend that you check this out if you are looking for a fun experience on your Oculus Go.

Pros:

The Angry Birds are fun characters

The game has a ton of personality

It is easy to pick up and play

It actually requires some skill

Tons of levels to play

Cons:

I wish it tied into the two movies a tad more

It can be very, very addictive!

Oculus Quest Game Reviews – Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs

It is pretty crazy to think that all these years later Angry Birds is still just as much fun. Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs is as the name suggests a VR take on the classic for the Oculus Quest. You may think that this kind of game would not work or really benefit by making the leap to VR. However, Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs is actually a pretty darn awesome and fun game and certainly worth looking at if you want to beef up your Oculus Quest collection.

The idea of the game is the same. Those pesky Pigs have taken the eggs and you want to get them back and also make it to Party City! The premise of Angry Birds will never change and I am more than cool with that. I think that Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs has a ton of personality and I love how bright and colorful everything in the game is. I do not think this is actually a tie in with the first or second Angry Birds movies. However, I feel that the Birds and the Pigs look just like they do in the movies.

The goal of Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs on Oculus Quest is exactly the same as it was on your old iPhone ten years ago. You need to use a slingshot to fire an Angry Bird at the Pigs and the structures they are on. In the original game, you did this with your finger. In Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs you use the Oculus Quest controllers and you have to pull them back like they were a slingshot. This is a lot of fun to do and it works very, very well. I had an absolute blast doing this. What makes this different is that you can change the angle you are shooting from which adds more strategy to the game.

Of course, all of the Angry Birds are back in this game. You have Red, Chuck, Blues and Bomb and so on. Each Angry Bird has something that makes them special and learning how to get the best out of their special abilities is really the key to beating a level, getting a high score and getting three stars on each level. The game is very addictive and there are a ton of levels for you to beat. I also like how quick paced the game is. I found this led me to say “just one more level” time and time again.

Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs on the Oculus Quest mixes things up with larger Pigs, boss Pigs, and obstacles that are in your way as you try to knock them down. No one will ever say that Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs is a really challenging game, but that is part of its brilliance. Anyone can pick this up and have fun with it, but getting three stars on all the levels (especially some of those later ones) can provide you with an extra challenge.

I think that as far as early Oculus Quest games go, Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs is awesome. Putting the Angry Birds into the world of VR is a lot of fun. It actually makes me hope that they bring Angry Birds Star Wars and Angry Birds Transformers to the Oculus Quest too! The asking price is a tad high, but this is one of the most fun games you can play on the Oculus Quest right now.

Pros:

Classic Angry Birds gameplay, but in 3D and VR!

Lots of levels to play

The game looks fantastic

Your virtual slingshot is very easy to control

Anyone can pick up and enjoy this game

Cons:

Some levels are super easy

The asking price is a little high in my opinion
