Oculus Rift Game Reviews – Virtual Virtual Reality

It is kind of crazy to think that the Oculus Rift version of Virtual Virtual Reality is the third version of this game that I have actually played! I do not mind at all as this is one of the most charming, amusing and just generally fun VR games you can play on any device. It is the kind of game that is perfect to show to someone who is unsure if VR is the real deal or a fad.

One of the main reasons that I really love Virtual Virtual Reality is the idea behind the game. As I write this, I literally just shouted at Alexa to play the Backstreet Boys (yeah, I like the Backstreet Boys, so sue me!) you see that is kind of the point of the game. Not to listen to the Backstreet Boys, but in that, we have all this technology in our homes that is super smart and makes our lives easier. However, what if this technology got smart enough to wonder why it is taking questions and orders from us, dumb humans?

Well, that is the idea behind this game and it does it in a very tongue in cheek kind of way. It is the kind of humor that may not make you legit LOL. However, it is the kind of humor that will ensure you have a smile on your face the whole time you play the game. You see this new AI overlord has decided that it is time for mankind to do all these little chores that it no longer wants to do. There are over 50 “jobs” that you will be tasked with doing and there is a ton of variety to what these jobs will require of you. Whales, phone boxes, weird alien worlds, greenhouses, and many more locations are the kind of places you will be tasked with working in.

The game is very, very clever and the tasks that it requires of you are never all that difficult, but being able to interact with the world how you see fit does leave a lot of what you do up to your interpretation. In this regard, I feel that Virtual Virtual Reality is kind of similar to what games such as Job Simulator ask of the player. Moving around each area, figuring out what you have to do, then how to do it and even just screwing around are all things that will shock you in how much time you spend doing them. This is one of those games where an intended 15-minute gaming session can turn into a couple of hours easily.

As far as Virtual Virtual Reality on the Oculus Rift goes, I feel that this is just as good as the Quest and Go. In all honesty, the graphics are not all that sharper, despite the extra horsepower, but they really do not need to be. You see this is a game that has a rather basic (basic, but it fits with the tone perfectly) art style so in actual fact I feel that this is a game any VR device could probably run.

I have to say that Virtual Virtual Reality is the kind of game I will simply never get bored of. There are a ton of different scenarios for you to play with and the puzzles are quite clever. Add to this a great premise and a very cheeky and dry sense of humor and you have a truly wonderful game that would be perfect in every Oculus Rift collection.

Pros:

Tons of VR worlds to play in

So much variety!

The game is very amusing

The premise is something I thought was very clever

Quick and easy to get into

Cons:

It is not exactly a cheap game

A few more tasks would have been nice
